From May to October 2023, Grupo Industrial Durandco joined Banco de Tapitas AC to generate funds to support medical treatments for children diagnosed with cancer.

In this way, we support a good cause, in which our talent participated in the areas of Finance, General Services, Human Capital, Commercial, Regulatory and Legal Compliance, Procurement; and our companies Blue Marine, Subtec, Shipping, Oil & Gas, and Eres Energía Limpia.

The rules were as follows:

The members of each team, in their home or workplace, collected lids from plastic containers that they no longer used and put them together with other members of their areas.

In the end, the team that collected the highest number of caps by weight was the winner of the “Durandco Tapita”, as well as the winner of a surprise prize — this was raffled off among the members of the winning area; in addition, the entire winning team deserved special recognition from the Presidency of GID.

Why hold this contest at GID?

In 2012, the Civil Hospital of Guadalajara, with the dual purpose of recycling plastics that pollute and helping its low-income patients with cancer, began a campaign to collect PET bottle caps to raise funds from the IP.

For six months, hundreds of tapitas were collected and given to a businessman, who offered payment for 10 chemotherapy treatments in exchange.

This initiative perfectly matches two causes to which GID is committed: caring for the environment and the fight against cancer.
