The RecoNcER project, an initiative aimed at empowering young Mexican and Central American migrants in the United States, has been a beacon of hope since its inception three years ago. Its mission is to provide educational and employment opportunities to these young people, a goal that has been achieved thanks to the generosity of many sponsors.
Funding from altruistic donors has made it easier for these young people to pursue higher education in Mexico thanks to a scholarship program. This support has created a path for them to succeed in their home country, avoiding the need to flee in search of opportunities. Since its inception, the RecoNcer project has transformed the lives of 12 young Mexicans. These students are in the process of becoming professionals in fields such as Medicine, Engineering and Economics.
Six of the 12 beneficiaries are currently studying medicine, and four of them have had the opportunity to study abroad. Among them, Juan Manuel del Ángel Sifuentes, who began studying Japanese from his first semester to be part of the high-performance program at Nagaoka University, Japan. The impact of the project is not only reflected in the excellent grades and dedication of the students, but also in their vocation for service.
Enrique Cortina, an International Relations student, collaborates with Casa Monarca, an organization in Monterrey that offers assistance to migrants, including food, clothing, medical care, legal advice and emotional support. For their part, medical students Paulina Duelos and Judith Mendoza dream of opening a clinic for migrants in the United States after obtaining their degrees.
The RecoNcER project has given these young migrants a platform to pursue their dreams and thrive in their areas of expertise. In addition, it has fostered a sense of commitment to society, stimulating their desire to make a difference in their communities. This spirit of service has been a key component in the success of the initiative. The RecoNcER project has been able to be realized thanks to the trust and financial support of generous benefactors. Without these contributions, the lives of these young people would have been markedly different.
